Calvary Baptist Church
Tuscaloosa, Alabama
It has been over 20 years since we began our relationship with Calvary Baptist Church. In that time, we have provided a multitude of construction services to this client. For example, we completely renovated the three-story church, including the sanctuary, fellowship hall, kitchen, classrooms, and administrative offices. The scope of work for that project further required that all electrical, mechanical, and fire alarm systems be upgraded and that an energy management system be installed. This work included a new chiller, boiler, and 4-pipe fan coil system to serve over 75% of the facility. We have also conducted massive asbestos abatement work, removing asbestos from well over half of the building, as well as provided substantial repair work to the existing masonry exterior of the building, originally constructed in 1926.
In subsequent renovations, we constructed a new choir practice room and choir loft, enlarged the sanctuary, and relocated the Church library. And we restored the Calvary Baptist Annex after a natural gas explosion and fire caused substantial damage. There, we rebuilt most of the exterior walls and totally renovated the interior of the building, which now includes classrooms, restrooms, an assembly room, and a kitchen. We also replaced all of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Finally, we were able to correct latent moisture intrusion problems by installing new waterproofing and roof flashing. During our work at the church, neither church services nor the services provided by the daily day-care center to over 100 children have been interrupted.
