Table of Grace Food Ministry

Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Table of Grace Food Ministry, owned and operated by Grace Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is the first client choice food pantry in the West Alabama region. Constructed using a large timber framing and truss system. These materials give the building a unique, rustic farmhouse look, while also increasing its structural strength beyond that of similarly sized wood-framed buildings. Large windows just below the roof line and at the building’s gabled ends allow an abundance of natural light to enter and brighten the open market area. Additional measures to minimize utility costs include thermal insulated doors and windows to maintain temperatures and two, 200-gallon stainless steel water collection systems in the facility’s garden below the building’s sloping roof and covered walkway.

This received the Alabama AGC's Build South Award for Community Involvement Projects.
