ZF Chassis System

Amason was selected by ZF Chassis Systems, LLC to serve as the design-build contractor for multiple expansions to its assembly plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This plant supplies drive train components to the Mercedes-Benz U.S. International plant in Vance, Alabama.

The scope of work for the first expansion included the design and construction for a new paint line. This paint process includes conveying components into a new spray booth and oven as well as a return conveyor line to transport finished product to outbound shipping.

The second was a 16,000 square-foot expansion to the plant’s chassis assembly line and included the installation of all-new industrial equipment and 11 loading docks. The project also required a renovation affecting more than 52,000 square-feet of the existing plant, a large site work package and a parking lot addition. The plant was able to remain fully operational during this expansion.
